Throughout this document the terms Test CA and Rudimentary CA are used interchangeably. In some cases, for added clarity, the document uses the term Rudimentary (Test) CA, which also has the same meaning. The Certificate Policies for The California Independent System Operator Public Key Infrastructure (hereafter called the CP Document) defines four policies for use in the CAISO PKI. Each policy represents a different assurance level. The assurance levels are named Rudimentary, Basic, Medium, and High. These policies are used for issuing certificates for the purposes of Identity Authentication, Message Origin Authentication and Key Agreement. The Rudimentary CA operates according to the Rudimentary (Test) Policy that is defined in the CP document.
