July 17 - July 19 California ISO Calls for Continued Conservationpdf 52K Summary:Power Watch, in effect since last Friday, has been extended through Wednesday, July 19, 2006 by the California ISO. A regional heat wave continues throughout California and the west and new record power demand is expected as hot temperatures drive the use of electricity to new levels. The current record peak demand of 45,431 megawatts was set a year ago this week on July 20, 2005. The ISO Control Area also continues to be under a Restricted Maintenance Operations Notice, notifying owners of power plants and transmission lines not to perform any unapproved maintenance work.
