Subject: Information Products and Services Project Initial Plan

Summary: In June of 2006, the California ISO (CAISO) initiated an on-going Information Products and Services (IP&S) Project to identify new and improved ways to deliver information to stakeholders. Later today, the CAISO will post an Initial Plan to address high-priority stakeholder needs, identified through the Needs Assessment phase of this project, on its website for stakeholder review and feedback.

Main Text: In June of 2006, the CAISO initiated an on-going IP&S Project to identify new and improved ways to deliver information to stakeholders. These offerings will increase the transparency of CAISO markets and operations and provide information to facilitate effective client decision-making.
The CAISO completed its stakeholder Needs Assessment in September, and has developed an Initial Plan to address the high-priority and frequently mentioned stakeholder needs. The Initial Plan is comprised of a preliminary set of products and/or services, including several “quick-hit” offerings that have already been implemented or could be implemented in the very near future, along with a preliminary schedule.
Later today, the CAISO will post the Initial Plan for stakeholder review on its website at: <http://www.caiso.com/1870/1870b0752e840.html>.
Please provide any feedback on the Initial Plan to aagustin@caiso.com <mailto:aagustin@caiso.com> by Wednesday, November 15, 2006 for incorporation in the final plan.
By the end of the week, the CAISO will post on the same web page revised spreadsheets providing additional details for the items that are not currently included in the plan.
Stakeholder feedback will determine whether a conference call is warranted.

Project Overview: The project consists of the following phases:
· Needs Assessment: Identification and prioritization of stakeholder needs;
· Initial Plan: Initial high level plan and schedule to address high-priority stakeholder needs; and
· Final Plan: Final CAISO plan and schedule to address high-priority stakeholder needs, incorporating stakeholder comments on the Initial Plan.
To ensure CAISO stakeholder needs drive the development of these products and services, the CAISO is involving stakeholders in each stage of the IP&S Project.
