Executive Biography: Tim Gage

California ISO Board of Governors


Tim Gage has been appointed to the California ISO Governing Board by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger after first being appointed to the Board by Governor Gray Davis in 2003. Mr. Gage has served as Chair of the ISO Board Finance Committee and has been instrumental in the development of the Market Redesign and Technology Upgrade program.

A Democrat, Mr. Gage served as the Director of the California Department of Finance, a position he held from 1999 to 2003. Since leaving state government, Mr. Gage has worked as a consultant and in 2005 he founded the economics and public policy consulting firm Blue Sky Consulting Group.

Prior to serving as director of finance, Mr. Gage held several key finance positions with the California State Legislature, including chief fiscal advisor to Senate President Pro Tempore John Burton and to then Senate President Pro Tempore Bill Lockyer. He also served as the chief consultant to the Assembly Ways and Means Committee from 1988 through 1994. Mr. Gage began his career in state government with the Office of the Legislative Analyst.

Mr. Gage earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and a master’s degree in public policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley.
