Main Text:  In 2005, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorized the California ISO (CAISO) proposal to organize a representative group of stakeholders into a Board Nominee Review Committee responsible for nominating candidates for the CAISO Governing Board.  Terms will expire December 31, 2007 for current Board Members, Chairman Mason Willrich and Governor Elizabeth Lowe.  Thus, the CAISO is seeking stakeholder participation in the 2007 Governing Board Nominee Review Committee.

The Board Nominee Review Committee is comprised of six stakeholders from each of the following member-class sectors:  Transmission Owners, Transmission-Dependent Utilities, Public Interest Groups, End-Users & Retail Energy Providers, Alternative Energy Providers, and Generators and Marketers.  The Sector representatives nominated in 2005 were to hold that voluntary position for 2 years (2007).  Each sector is responsible for selecting its own six members to serve on the Committee.  Stakeholders interested in participating in the Governing Board process can send their contact information and member-class sector to the below listed volunteers, who have agreed to act as sector secretaries until a new secretary can be named.

Once the committee has been established and secretaries nominated, the 2007 Board Member selection process will begin in accordance with the CAISO Board Resolution Concerning Board Member selection dated 5/06/05 and modified 8/3/06.  The following steps are being taken for the nomination:

·         Russell Reynolds Associates, a professional search firm, will create a list of eight qualified candidates and forward the list to the 36-member Board Nominee Review Committee.

·         The Committee will select one person to represent the group for a personal interview of each candidate.

·         Based on inputs from the member-class sectors, Russell Reynolds Associates will submit a recommendation to the Governor’s office.
