SoCal Fires Trigger Transmission Emergencypdf 24K Summary:News Release October 22, 2007: SoCal Fires Trigger Transmission Emergency; California ISO Reports Power Interruption to Customers Extract:(Folsom, CA) The Santiago Fire in Orange County is burning under two high-voltage transmission power lines, which caused them to trip out of service briefly at about 2:00 p.m. today. The California Independent System Operator Corporation (California ISO) ordered Southern California Edison to drop 300 megawatts worth of electrical load, which was restored by 2:25 p.m. San Diego Gas and Electric was asked to shed 200 megawatts worth of electricity, which the ISO gave the okay to restore at 2:30.
