Declined Real-Time Import Export Bids Settlement Charge Effective 5/1/2008

Summary

The CAISO filed a tariff amendment that establishes a settlement charge to be assessed to Scheduling Coordinators (SCs) who do not deliver Import/Export bids that are accepted in the CAISO real-time markets.  The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has conditionally accepted the amendment with an effective date of May 1, 2008.  The CAISO will hold a pre-implementation conference call to answer any questions.

Main Text

The California ISO (CAISO) filed a tariff amendment with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that establishes a settlement charge for SCs who do not deliver Import / Export bids that are accepted in the CAISO real-time markets for energy. This charge was an outcome of a CAISO stakeholder process which was held from October through December, 2007.

 

In an order issued today in Docket No. ER08-628, FERC has conditionally accepted the amendment effective May 1.  The CAISO is reminding Market Participants of the expected charges beginning on that date.   

 

This monthly charge will be settled according to CAISO Settlement timeline and will be visible on the SCs Settlement Statements under the charge type ID 6455.

 

The CAISO is holding a pre-implementation conference call on April 30, 2008 to address any Market Participant questions.
