California ISO

Communications and Roles under Mandatory Reliability Standards

Background

The California ISO (the ISO) has entered into Reliability Standards Agreements (RSAs) with the three interconnected utilities, which include Southern California Edison (SCE), Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), and San Diego Gas & Electric Co. (SDG&E).  These agreements allocate the responsibilities to the signatories for compliance as the Transmission Operator (TOP) with NERC mandatory Reliability Standards.  These RSAs are posted on the ISO website at: http://www.caiso.com/1bef/1befa28a402c0.html

Therefore, the ISO will conduct workshops to clarify for stakeholders the roles of the interconnected utilities compared to that of the ISO with regard to Generator Owners (GOs) and Generator Operators (GOPs) communications with Transmission Owners (TOs) in accordance with the mandatory Reliability Standards and the interconnected utilities for these communications.
