33 Percent RPS: Establishing a New ISO Tariff Category for Renewable Transmission Projects

Background To help achieve the State’s 33 percent Renewables Portfolio Standards (RPS) target, the ISO proposes to add a new category of transmission projects that will facilitate the necessary expansion of the electric grid to support renewable resource policy objectives, as well as a transmission project evaluation process that will use commercial interest tests and other criteria to determine whether projects are eligible to receive conditional or final approval by the ISO.
