Support for Market Participants Needing Help with Spring Release Readiness

Summary

In preparation for the April launch of the Spring Release initiatives, the California ISO seeks feedback from market participants needing additional assistance in preparing for go-live.

Main Text

On April 1, 2010 the ISO will implement Scarcity Pricing and Ancillary Service Procurement in the Hour-Ahead Scheduling Process.  On April 15, the ISO will implement Forbidden Operating Regions.  It is imperative that affected market participants are prepared to operate successfully under the market rules introduced by these initiatives. 

 

The ISO seeks feedback from market participants who need additional support in preparing for the launch of these market enhancements.  The purpose of the three initiatives and impacted participants are outlined below.

 

Scarcity Pricing - April 1 go-live

·         Impacted market participants:  This initiative will particularly affect scheduling coordinators that participate in the ancillary service markets. 

 

Ancillary Service Procurement in the Hour-Ahead Scheduling Process - April 1 go-live

·         Impacted market participants:  This initiative will impact scheduling coordinators that have hourly pre-dispatch resources that are certified to provide ancillary services.

 

Forbidden Operating Regions - April 15 go-live

·         Impacted market participants:  This initiative will impact scheduling coordinators that have generation resources with defined forbidden operating regions registered in the Master File.

 

Market participants that are comfortable with their preparedness do not need to respond to this market notice.
