Vice President, Policy and Client Services
A 30-year veteran of electricity industry public affairs and policy, Karen Edson is the Vice President, Policy and Client Services for the California Independent System Operator Corporation (ISO). She joined the organization in 2005 as Vice President, External Affairs. With responsibility for managing the areas of customer service and industry affairs, communications and public relations, and government affairs, Ms. Edson performs a key role in building and maintaining strategic partnerships for the organization. She serves the outreach and education needs of a diverse body of stakeholders, regulators and policy makers as well as internal and external communications.
Ms. Edson served in a number of senior roles within state government, including Commissioner on the California Energy Commission, Assistant Director of the California Research Bureau, legislative director for various state agencies, and legislative staff. From 1985-2000 she headed a small consulting firm that specialized in energy policy and power plant permitting issues. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California Berkeley.
