2017-2018 Transmission Planning Moorpark Stakeholder Call 1/11/18 to include IID S-Line Upgrade Discussion
The California ISO has expanded the scope of the stakeholder call scheduled on January 11, 2018 as part of the 2017-2018 ISO transmission planning process to include the introduction of a potential upgrade to the 230 kV S-Line and related terminal equipment owned by Imperial Irrigation District (IID), in addition to the previously scheduled review of the Pardee-Moorpark #4 230 kV Transmission Circuit proposed by Southern California Edison (SCE) to mitigate the Moorpark subarea local capacity deficiency. Please submit comments by January 18.
The California Energy Commission issued an Order on November 3, 2017 suspending the Puente Power Project Application for Certification proceeding in order for other alternatives to be evaluated. On December 14, 2017, SCE submitted the Pardee-Moorpark No. 4 230 kV Transmission Circuit into the 2017-2018 ISO transmission planning process for approval to partially mitigate the Moorpark subarea local capacity deficiency.
Further, the ISO is exploring a potential upgrade to the IID-owned 230 kV S-Line connecting the El Centro substation to the Imperial Valley substation, and related terminal upgrades. The upgrades are being considered for expedited management approval.
A stakeholder call is scheduled on January 11, 2018 to provide the results of the ISO’s preliminary analysis of the proposed Pardee-Moorpark #4 230 kV Transmission Circuit, and to introduce stakeholders to the S-Line upgrade project.
