The California ISO has scheduled an informational stakeholder call on May 27, 2020, to review its 2020 Summer Loads and Resources Assessment, which is available on its website at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/BulletinsReportsStudies/Default.aspx. This report provides an assessment of the upcoming summer supply and demand outlook for the ISO balancing authority area and identifies issues that could lead to potential challenging operating conditions during the summer 2020.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has changed the energy consumption pattern across all regions of the country as businesses scaled-down their operations or are temporarily shutting down. During this call the ISO will share information on the load and energy price reductions that have been observed along with how the ISO continues to fine tune its models to improve forecast accuracy. Data related to the impacts to loads and markets available at http://www.caiso.com/about/Pages/News/default.aspx#covid19.
The impact of the disruption on the energy markets is reflected on the year-to-date under-recovery of the grid management charge (GMC). Therefore, the ISO will also review the June 1st proposed rate increase for the GMC along with the corresponding Western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) Administrative Fees.
A presentation will be posted prior to the call on the Miscellaneous Stakeholder Meetings webpage at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/MeetingsEvents/MiscellaneousStakeholderMeetings/Default.aspx.
This meeting will be recorded and the video file posted on the initiative webpage for a limited time. The recording is for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
