2021-2022 Transmission Planning Process: Qualified Project Sponsor Applications posted
MESSAGE

The California ISO has posted to its website a list of project sponsors for the Newark-NRS and Metalf-San Jose B HVDC projects whose project sponsor applications satisfy the information submission requirements and have been qualified for the Transmission Planning Process, Phase 3 Competitive Solicitation process. Both of the lists of qualified project sponsors are available on the 2021-2022 Transmission Planning Process webpage.

Pursuant to section 24.5.3 of the ISO Tariff, the ISO has qualified five applications for the Metcalf-San Jose B HVDC transmission solution and six applications for the Newark–Northern Receiving Station transmission solution. The ISO qualified the project sponsors and proposals based on the criteria as set forth in tariff sections 24.5.3.1 - Project Sponsor Qualification and 24.5.3.2 - Proposal Qualification in the ISO Tariff.  The ISO will now determine through the selection process the qualified project sponsors to finance, construct, own, operate and maintain the Newark-NRS and Metalf-San Jose B HVDC projects.

More information on the 2021-2022 transmission planning process is available on the process webpage linked above.
