Main Text
The ISO is launching a new stakeholder initiative, phase 2 of the Aliso Canyon Gas-Electric Coordination initiative launched in March 2016. Aliso Canyon Gas-Electric Coordination Phase 2 will evaluate and propose to either retire, extend or adjust the temporary measures approved for the summer period. A stakeholder call is scheduled for September 9, 2016 to introduce and discuss the initiative.
Phase 1 of this initiative addressed the gas-electric market coordination concerns raised by the limited operations of Aliso Canyon storage facility. During phase 1, the ISO Board of Governors approved a set of operational tools and market mechanisms to mitigate the risks to gas and electric markets of electric service interruptions. The ISO implemented these temporary provisions effective for the summer months, which will sunset on November 30, 2016. Phase 2 of the stakeholder initiative will explore whether those temporary measures should be retired extended, or adjusted for operations through Fall 2017.
A presentation and agenda will be available by close of business September 6 on the initiative webpage at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/StakeholderProcesses/AlisoCanyonGasElectricCoordination.aspx.
Please submit comments on the presentation to initiativecomments@caiso.com by close of business September 14.
