The California ISO has scheduled a public Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Coordination working group on Jan. 11, 2024. A link to pre-register for the working group will provided in a future notice.
The Jan. 11 working group meeting will include facilitated discussions on elements of the current Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM) and Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM) GHG design, feedback received on GHG metrics and reporting, and further review of consolidated problem statements. Additional topics may be included ahead of the meeting.
Through working group discussions on the identified problem statements, there have been requests to review the current EDAM and WEIM GHG design in order to refine and inform discussions on current and future problem statements. In response to these requests, the ISO team will provide an overview during the working group meeting on GHG attribution in EDAM and WEIM.
During the Nov. 27 working group meeting, the group discussed current and proposed GHG metrics published by the ISO to facilitate further discussion on identified problem statement 5: The ISO does not provide all metrics desired by market participants. Written comments identified additional metrics that stakeholders would like the ISO to provide. The Jan. 11 working group meeting will include a facilitated discussion on the additional metrics requested.
Further review of the consolidated problem statements was also requested by stakeholders through written comments. The facilitated working group discussion will include information on how the initial statements were consolidated into the six currently identified statements, and how stakeholders have prioritized discussion and evaluation of these topics.
