Petition of the California Independent System Operator Corporation for Approval of Disposition of Non-Refundable Interconnection Financial Security
MESSAGE

On March 1, 2023, the California ISO filed a petition with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) in docket no. ER23-1209-000 requesting approval of how it distributed forfeited study deposits for projects interconnecting to the distribution system of Southern California Edison Company for the calendar year 2021. The petition is available on the Regulatory filings and orders webpage.

The ISO received FERC approval to distribute these funds in docket no. ER22-2730-000 on Dec. 15, 2022. After receiving that approval, the ISO identified an error in the allocation it proposed in its filing.  The ISO distributed the funds on January 23, with that error corrected. The March 1 filing seeks FERC approval of that corrected allocation. If FERC approves the proposed correction, then no resettlement will be necessary. If, however, FERC does not approve the ISO’s request, then the ISO will resettle the allocation in line with FERC’s directive.
