The California ISO is launching the Price Formation Enhancements initiative working group sessions that will begin August 3, 2023. The working groups are intended to foster additional collaboration with stakeholders in defining the problem statements and guiding principles for this initiative. The first working group for this initiative will focus on scarcity pricing enhancements and Balancing Authority Area (BAA) level market power mitigation.
As part of the ISO’s effort to further enhance engagement in its stakeholder working group process, the ISO is actively seeking stakeholder’s perspectives on the guiding principles and problem statements for scarcity pricing enhancements and BAA-level market power mitigation. These perspectives will be integrated and discussed as a community within the working groups of the Price Formation Enhancements stakeholder initiative. To assist stakeholders in preparing their thoughts, the ISO has provided an overview document summarizing issues that have been raised to date on these topics, either by the ISO or by stakeholders through their comments. The Price Formation Enhancements Overview is available on the initiative webpage.
The ISO encourages participants to propose specific topics to be discussed and welcomes interested parties to present proposals through a future working group process. Please email interest to present to ISOStakeholderAffairs@caiso.com for future working group sessions after August 3.
