After careful review and in cooperation with Participating Transmission Owners (PTO), equipment manufacturers, and the generation development community, the California ISO is requesting supplemental inverter fault current contribution data to refine the existing system models used in transmission interconnection studies. Consistent with Good Utility Practice the ISO is initiating this request in an effort to supplement and update its system models, specifically focusing on the inverter fault current characteristics used by the PTOs to evaluate whether existing equipment can be utilized to facilitate interconnection.
The ISO will contact affected generation facilities via email with the specific data requirements. The ISO will use this information to create an inverter database. The database will allow the ISO and PTOs to more accurately determine the impact of existing and future inverter-based generation in resource interconnection studies. Responses are requested by Jan. 26, 2024.
