The California ISO announces that the Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM) Nominating Committee has started its process to nominate a slate for the WEIM Governing Body seat for which the term is scheduled to expire in 2023. An updated list of Nominating Committee members has been posted to the WEIM Governance webpage and reflects a few new members.
According to the Selection Policy for the WEIM Governing Body, the Nominating Committee must convene no less than 100 days prior to the scheduled expiration of any member’s term to begin the process of identifying potential candidates for the seat.
The Nominating Committee must take the following steps to identify a candidate(s) to bring to the WEIM Governing Body for approval in a general session meeting:
- Determine if the WEIM Governing Body member(s) whose terms are scheduled to expire have expressed a desire to be nominated for a new term, and if so, decide whether to re-nominate the departing member(s) without interviewing other candidates.
- If the Committee does not decide to proceed in this manner, then it should ask the Executive Search Firm to identify at least two qualified candidates per open seat to interview.
WEIM Governing Body member Anita Decker has expressed her interest in being reappointed when her term ends on June 30, 2023. The Nominating Committee has scheduled a discussion to determine next steps.
The WEIM Governing Body is a five-member body that works closely with the California ISO Board of Governors and exercises shared authority over rules of the WEIM. Candidates for the WEIM Governing Body are selected by a Nominating Committee comprised of representatives of WEIM stakeholders.
