Vice President, Customer and State Affairs
Tom Doughty is the ISO’s Vice President of Customer and State Affairs. Since joining the ISO in 2003, Mr. Doughty has held several leadership assignments in the customer care and regulatory affairs areas. He is responsible for the ISO’s interactions with California regulatory and governmental bodies, and oversees the ISO’s customer service, client onboarding and communications functions.
Mr. Doughty created the ISO's Stakeholder Symposium, which is the largest electric energy event in the West. Earlier, he designed the ISO’s stakeholder process in response to customer requests.
Now in his fourth decade in the energy industry, Mr. Doughty's career also includes executive leadership positions with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, a subsidiary of Xcel Energy, and other entrepreneurial energy service and demand response providers. In the late 1980’s, Mr. Doughty was among a small group of innovators that drove the launch of electric vehicles in the U.S.
He is a licensed engineer and holds degrees in engineering and business administration from University of California, Davis and University of California, Los Angeles, respectively.
