Energy storage and distributed energy resources phase 1

Phase 1 focused on three topic areas: (1) enhancements to the ISO participation model for storage; (2) enhancements to performance measures and statistical sampling for the proxy demand resource and reliability demand response resource participation models; and (3) clarifications to rules for non-resource adequacy multiple-use applications.

Outcome

Phase 1 of this initiative enhanced the ability of grid-connected storage and distribution-connected resources to participate in the ISO market. Improvements included the ability for submitting the state of charge as a daily bid parameter in the day-ahead market, as well as an option to not provide state of charge limits or not have the ISO co-optimize non-generator resources based on state of charge.
