Stepped constraint parameters

This initiative will consider the appropriate configurations for the market scheduling and pricing parameters criteria used in the ISO market optimization. These parameters govern conditions that may set market prices and relax constraints.

Outcome

Initiative is closed. The Stepped Constraint Parameters initiative was considering revisions to the penalty prices used to relax transmission constraints used by the ISO market. However, the Real-Time Market Enhancements initiative planned for 2017 will include considering co-optimizing ancillary services and energy in the real-time market. The ISO will coordinate with stakeholders to further consider a more comprehensive review of penalty prices used in the ISO market under this initiative, which is needed in conjunction with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Order No. 831 that increases the energy bid cap.
