Dispute information requirements

There is a common set of required information for every dispute. To evaluate a dispute submitted by a scheduling coordinator (SC), the California ISO must be able to identify the item in the statement that the SC does not agree with, and must be able to understand the SC's reasons for the dispute. Therefore, if the SC disputes any charge type, the SC must identify the following information in the dispute:

  • Trade Date

  • Trade Hour(s)

  • Charge Code

  • Bill Determinant Name

  • Statement Disputed

  • Settlement Run Number

  • Tariff or Business Practice Manual Section Reference

  • Dispute Type/ Case Reason (e.g. allocation dispute, meter data dispute, etc…)

  • Detailed dispute description completed with the a) reason for the dispute, b) specific Charge Code calculation component disputed, c) scheduling coordinator calculated billable quantity and/or price, and d) explanation and/or example of how the suggested correction was derived and what data elements were used in the equation

  • Evidence in support of the scheduling coordinator’s suggested correction (typically submitted as an attachment to the dispute)

Some of the information/data expected in the detailed description field may be presented as an attachment to the dispute case, however, the description field of the Customer Inquiry, Dispute and Information (CIDI) case should always clearly state a summary of the disputed issue even if the supporting information and calculations are attached to the dispute.
