Reminder: Generator Interconnection Applications: Cluster 13 Application Window 4/1/20-4/15/20

MESSAGE

The California ISO will open the Cluster 13 Application Window for Generator Interconnection Request Applications from April 1, 2020 to April 15, 2020. Interconnection customers may only submit Interconnection Request applications during this window to be included in Cluster 13. Applications will only be accepted electronically using the CAISO’s Resource Information Management System (RIMS). More details of the Interconnection Request application (Page 1-56) and electronic submittal (page 57) process are posted on the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/Documents/Presentation-1-InterconnectionApplicationOptions-Process.pdf

The Interconnection Request and Study Agreement Form (Appendix 1) for the Generator Interconnection and Deliverability Allocation Procedures (GIDAP), new generator facility data forms (Attachment A to Appendix 1), as well as completed sample forms, and application process and materials have been posted to the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/planning/Pages/GeneratorInterconnection/InterconnectionRequest/Default.aspx.

In addition, it is of critical importance that interconnection customers review the tariff provisions for the minimum Interconnection Request tariff requirements described in Tariff Section 3.5.1 Initiating an Interconnection Request and Tariff Section 3.5.2 Validation of Interconnection Request. Interconnection Request applications that are incomplete when the window closes with not be included in Cluster 13.

The current tariff applicable to the Generator Interconnection Process is Tariff Appendix DD, available at http://www.caiso.com/Documents/AppendixDD-GeneratorInterconnection-DeliverabilityAllocationProcedures-asof-Oct23-2019.pdf

For additional information on Cluster 13 process milestones and schedule, the GIDAP Customer Guidelines summary is available at http://www.caiso.com/Documents/GIDAPCustomerGuidelines.xls

Customers submitting Interconnection Request applications for proposed energy storage facilities who desire firm charging service to reduce the risk of curtailments during charging must contact their interconnecting participating transmission owner (PTO) to request separate firm load interconnection studies. The ISO will request additional operational information/characteristics prior to scoping meetings for these types of projects. Storage project customers will submit the same Interconnection Request applications identified above. Please include any applicable additional information related to the project with the Interconnection Request application submittal.
