Registration is still open for the ISO’s annual Resource Interconnection Fair scheduled on Feb. 27, 2019 at its campus in Folsom, California. This forum provides stakeholders with an opportunity to learn more about the ISO interconnection process, and the new Board approved Interconnection Request (IR) components that will be required by April 15, 2019, for a project to be included in the Cluster 11 studies. Register for the fair at https://caiso.regfox.com/rifregistration-2019. The cost to attend
is $40 per person which includes all event meals.
Participation in the Resource Interconnection Fair is only available in person. For those who are not able to attend, presentations will be available on the Resource Interconnection Fair webpage on the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/MeetingsEvents/PublicForums/Default.aspx. More details regarding the fair are also available at that link.
The fair agenda includes a series of presentations and discussions that will highlight all of the requirements for interconnecting a new resource to the ISO, and to be successful in interconnecting to the electric transmission system and participation in the wholesale energy markets. New tariff requirements recently approved or pending approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) from the Interconnection Process Enhancement (IPE) stakeholder initiative in 2018 will be discussed as well.
The tariff revisions relevant to initiating an IR can be accessed on the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/Documents/DraftFinalClusterWindowTariffRevisions-InterconnectionProcessEnhancements2018.docx. Stakeholders are strongly encouraged to review the following sections prior to submitting an IR:
- New minimum IR tariff requirements described in Tariff Section 3.5.1 Initiating an Interconnection Request
- Revisions to the IR validation processes described in Tariff Section 3.5.2 Validation of Interconnection Request
These changes were approved by the ISO board and filed at FERC on Feb. 7, 2019. The FERC filing is available at http://www.caiso.com/Documents/Feb7-2019-TariffAmendment-SpecifyMinimumRequirements-InterconnectionRequests-ER19-1013.pdf.
More information about the IPE 2018 initiative is available at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/StakeholderProcesses/InterconnectionProcessEnhancements.aspx.
