The California ISO is deploying the functionality of its Reliability Demand Response Resource (RDRR) Bidding Enhancements Phase 2 initiative, effective trade date Nov. 3, 2022.
The functionality being implemented further enhances real-time bidding for the RDRR model by:
- Allowing discrete RDRRs to register up to 100 MW in size, or larger if they meet certain criteria.
- Modeling the PMin of discrete RDRRs just below the resource’s upper economic limit, and modeling a minimum load cost value in the real-time market to prevent infeasible dispatches and respect dispatch limitations.
Additional information on the new RDRR Bidding Enhancements Phase 2 functionality is detailed in revised versions of the following BPMs: Market Instruments, Market Operations, Demand Response, and Settlements and Billing. The Proposed Revision Requests (PRRs) detailing these edits, PRRs 1459, 1465, 1466, and 1467, respectively, are available at the CAISO’s Business Practice Manual Change Management site linked below.
