The California ISO will be hosting a public call on Dec. 8, 2020, to provide stakeholders with an update on efforts to improve grid reliability in anticipation of hot weather conditions expected in summer 2021. The update will include activities outlined in the preliminary root cause analysis, which is available at http://www.caiso.com/Documents/Preliminary-Root-Cause-Analysis-Rotating-Outages-August-2020.pdf.
Following the power outages in August 2020, the ISO has been working closely with the California Public Utility Commission and the California Energy Commission to examine operational and market design changes needed to help strengthen grid reliability during challenging heat-related conditions. The update call is intended to provide stakeholders with an update on activities and an opportunity to engage in the summer readiness planning process.
The ISO has launched a dedicated webpage containing information related to the August 2020 outages and the ongoing summer readiness activities, which is available at http://www.caiso.com/about/Pages/News/SummerReadiness.aspx.
This call will be recorded and the video file posted on the webpage linked above for a limited time. The recording is for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
