Regional Integration: Regional Resource Adequacy - Extended Schedule, Meeting in Salt Lake City 4/21/16

The California ISO has extended the schedule for the Regional Resource Adequacy initiative. The next stakeholder meeting is scheduled for April 21, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah to review the revised straw proposal.  The proposal will be available on April 12, 2016.  Please RSVP by April 16 if planning to attend in person.

Main Text

The ISO has extended the schedule for the Regional Resource Adequacy initiative and has scheduled a stakeholder meeting on April 21, 2016 to review the revised straw proposal. A subsequent market notice will announce the posting of the paper on April 12.

The extended schedule now targets taking the draft final proposal to the ISO Board of Governors for decision in August, rather than June. This revised schedule will allow additional time for the ISO to develop the details of the proposal, and time for additional iterations of proposals.  This extended initiative schedule is also in response to stakeholder requests for more time to review and provide additional feedback in the policy development process.

The revised stakeholder schedule is as follows:

Apr 12

Publish revised straw proposal

Apr 21

Stakeholder meeting to discuss revised straw proposal

May 4

Written comments due - revised straw proposal

Dates below are tentative until confirmed in a future market notice:

May 26

Publish second revised straw proposal

Jun 2

Stakeholder meeting to discuss second revised straw proposal

Jun 15

Written comments due - second revised straw proposal

Jun 30

Publish draft final proposal

Jul 12

Stakeholder meeting to discuss draft final proposal

Jul 26

Written comments due - draft final proposal

Aug 31-Sep 1

Present proposal to Board

As indicated in the schedule, the ISO will post an additional iteration (second revised) of the proposal and solicit additional input from stakeholders.  The modification still allows the ISO to request approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by the end of 2016.

Please submit comments on the revised straw proposal to by close of business May 4.
