  • Reactive power requirements and financial compensation
Through this initiative the ISO will develop a uniform requirement for asynchronous resources to provide reactive power, which will replace the current system impact study assessment approach. This initiative will also explore voltage control financial compensation for all resources.
    • Outcome
The ISO developed requirements for asynchronous resources to provide reactive power and voltage support in a manner comparable to requirements for synchronous resources. — FERC approval: Mar 29, 2017 (ER17-114), Aug 29, 2017 (ER17-490); Tariff amendment filing: Oct 14, 2016 (ER17-114), Dec 5, 2016 (ER17-490); Board of Governors approval: Aug 31, 2016
