2022 Summer readiness

The California ISO is committed to keeping the public up-to-date on grid and market conditions during summer months, when extreme heat can cause energy supply shortages. In September 2022, California experienced a record-breaking 10-day heat wave, and while demand hit an all-time peak, the power grid remained stable.

This page is dedicated to providing easy access to reports, news releases, briefings, and initiatives related to grid operations in the summer of 2022 – including challenges, solutions, and areas for improvement – as we work with partners and stakeholders to ensure reliability in the summers ahead.
