The California ISO Department of Market Monitoring has published the 2023 First Quarter Report on Market Issues and Performance in addition to a special report Real-Time Load Settlements and Revenue Imbalances. A stakeholder web conference will be scheduled to discuss reported analysis and findings following the publication of the Q2 report, and a forthcoming special report on the mosaic quantile regression of uncertainty.
The report covers market results for the period from January to March 2023. Gas prices rose to extraordinarily high levels across the market footprint in December 2022 and remained high through Q1, well above the national index. This resulted in higher system marginal energy prices across the ISO and Western Energy Imbalance Market. In addition to market results, the report includes a review of nodal flexible ramping product implementation in February.
Information related to market monitoring is available on the Market Monitoring webpage.
