The California ISO Department of Market Monitoring has published the 2023 Fourth Quarter Report on Market Issues and Performance and has scheduled a stakeholder web conference on April 30, 2024 to discuss reported analysis and findings.
The report covers market results for the period from October to December 2023. Gas prices were down significantly compared to the same quarter of 2022. This resulted in much lower system marginal energy prices across the California ISO and Western Energy Imbalance Market. The report includes analysis and recommendations on changes made by the California ISO balancing area to WEIM transfer constraint limits and to its process for determining the residual unit commitment manual load adjustment.
