Subject to the process stated in Section 4.7 of the Transmission Control Agreement, at this time the California ISO intends to relinquish its operational control over the Caribou - Palermo 115kV facilities. This line has been de-energized since December 2018, shortly after the Camp Fire. After the initial de-energization Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) identified a potential residual public safety risk associated with the Caribou - Palermo line in its de-energized state and has taken steps to mitigate the public safety risk but intends to ultimately physically remove the line and associated facilities in its entirety.
Interested parties have 45 days within which to submit written objections to the proposed removal to Deb Le Vine at dlevine@caiso.com. Stakeholder comments on the proposal are appreciated as soon as possible and required no later than Dec. 1, 2020. The ISO will then respond to the objections and post the response on the ISO website.
