Summary

A joint workshop is scheduled for May 2-3, 2016, to discuss energy storage topics in common between the California ISO's Energy Storage and Distributed Energy Resources Phase 2 stakeholder initiative and the California Public Utilities Commission's energy storage Order Instituting Rulemaking 15-03-011, Track 2.  An agenda and issue paper are available on the ISO website.  Initial comments must be filed with the California Public Utilities Commission in Rulemaking 15-03-011 by May 13, 2016.

 

Main Text

The California ISO and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will jointly hold a workshop May 2-3, 2016 on the topics of station power and multiple-use applications of energy storage systems.  The workshop is part of the California ISO's Energy Storage and Distributed Energy Resources Phase 2 stakeholder initiative and the CPUC's energy storage proceeding (Order Instituting Rulemaking (R.) 15-03-011).

 

The focus of the May 2 workshop will be station power for storage systems.  On May 3, the workshop will focus on multiple-use applications and "use cases" of energy storage systems.  An agenda and joint issue paper are available on the ISO website at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/StakeholderProcesses/EnergyStorage_DistributedEnergyResourcesPhase2.aspx.

 

Stakeholders should refer to the CPUC Administrative Law Judge's ruling in R. 15-03-011 dated April 22, 2016, for the comment schedule.  This ruling is available on the above webpage. Per this ruling, comments must be filed with the CPUC by May 13, 2016, and reply comments must be filed by May 20, 2016.  Based on comments and reply comments, the CPUC and ISO will edit the joint issue paper to create the workshop report.
