The ISO will hold a public stakeholder call on July 10, 2018 to discuss the issue paper for a new initiative called Excess Behind the Meter Production. This initiative will establish a standard reporting practice for gross load, with regard to excess behind the meter energy production. It will also determine how this excess energy production is best represented in ISO market processes. During the last decade a significant amount rooftop solar was installed in the California ISO footprint. With its continued growth, it is important to determine how excess energy from these behind the meter sources is reported to the ISO, and the impact this energy has on market settlement charges, including transmission access charges.
An agenda and presentation, along with the paper, will be available prior to the meeting on the initiative webpage at http://www.caiso.com/informed/Pages/StakeholderProcesses/ExcessBehindTheMeterProduction.aspx.
A notice in the Daily Briefing will announce when the paper is posted. Stakeholders, or other interested parties, should sign up for the Daily Briefing, a once a day email summarizing that day’s notifications.
A web conference will be available for stakeholder convenience. In addition, the call will be recorded and the video file posted on the initiative webpage for a limited time. The recording is for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
Please submit written comments on the issue paper to initiativecomments@caiso.com by end of day July 18, 2018.
