The California ISO will hold a public stakeholder workshop on June 1, 2022, to kickoff a new Price Formation Enhancements initiative. The ISO offers this as an opportunity for stakeholders to present their organization’s perspective on specific topics the ISO is considering within scope of this initiative. The following topics will be discussed:
- Scarcity pricing enhancements to better reflect tight supply conditions
- Consideration of fast-start pricing in the CAISO markets
- Multi-interval optimization and enhancements to how the real-time market uses advisory prices to dispatch resources
- Bid cost recovery changes focused on storage resource interaction with the real-time market’s multi-interval optimization
- Improvements to the ISO’s existing local power mitigation methodology to more accurately consider transmission constraints between BAAs
- Other price formation issues stakeholders feel the ISO should prioritize
Each stakeholder will be allowed a 2-slide deck presentation on each topic. Please contact ISO Stakeholder Affairs at isostakeholderaffairs@caiso.com by Friday, May 20, 2022 if your organization is interested in presenting on any of these topics. This will help the ISO understand the volume of interest to better organize and prepare for the meeting. All slides are due to the ISO no later than Friday, May 27, 2022. Please submit slides to isostakeholderaffairs@caiso.com. This will allow time for the ISO to assemble and publish the slides for review by all participants prior to the workshop. The presentations will be available on the Price Formation Enhancements initiative webpage.
