The California ISO has launched a new initiative called Energy Storage Enhancements, and has scheduled a public stakeholder web meeting on May 5, 2021, to discuss the issue paper for this initiative.
This initiative will enhance the optimization, dispatch, and settlement of energy storage and other similarly-situated resources, through developing bid enhancements to help resources accurately represent their marginal costs to the real-time market, enhancements to ensure the ISO has sufficient state-of-charge to cover critical hours, and exploring modification the ISO’s Exceptional Dispatch and Bid Cost Recovery mechanisms.
The issue paper, along with a presentation, will be available prior to the call on the initiative webpage, at https://stakeholdercenter.caiso.com/StakeholderInitiatives/Energy-storage-enhancements. The web meeting will be recorded and the video file posted on the initiative webpage for a limited time. The recording is for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
In addition, in an effort to efficiently address questions during the meeting, stakeholders are encouraged to review the documentation and submit questions in advance of the web meeting. Questions submitted in advance will be addressed first, followed by questions stakeholders may have during the meeting. Time limits, however, may be used to ensure all stakeholders are heard and all material has been covered. Please email questions to ISOStakeholderAffairs@caiso.com by 12 p.m. Pacific Time on May 3.
Please submit written comments on the issue paper by end of day May 19, through the ISO’s commenting tool, using the link on the initiative webpage above.
