The California ISO Department of Market Monitoring has posted its second quarter Market Issues and Performance Report and has scheduled a stakeholder web conference on Oct. 15, 2020, to discuss the analysis and findings of the first and second quarter 2020 Market Issues and Performance Reports which are available below.

Second quarter 2020: http://www.caiso.com/Documents/2020SecondQuarterReportonMarketIssuesandPerformance-Oct62020.pdf
The second quarter 2020 Market Issues and Performance Report includes coverage of market performance in both the day-ahead and real-time Western Energy Imbalance Market. Market prices remained highly competitive in the second quarter due to a combination of favorable market and system conditions. Electricity prices decreased from the previous quarter to the second quarter of 2020, with average day-ahead prices ($21/MWh) lower than both 15-minute ($22/MWh) and 5-minute prices ($23/MWh). Factors contributing to lower electricity costs included lower natural gas prices and reductions in load following stay-at-home orders imposed in March. The report also includes special issue coverage of COVID-19 impacts on day-ahead energy prices, renewable curtailment and several
new measures to assess market competitiveness.
