The California ISO has introduced several enhancements to the Business Practice Manual (BPM) change management process. This training session will guide stakeholders through these enhancements which are designed to improve transparency, consistency, and the overall quality of Proposed Revision Request (PRR) submissions.

 

What topics will be covered? 

  • New and updated status definitions and process transparency:
    • Introduction of the new “Pending Project Implementation” status, offering greater flexibility when submitting PRRs.
    • Standardized definitions for PRR stages and statuses to improve clarity across stakeholder submissions and ISO reviews.
  • Enhanced impact analysis requirements:
    • Overview of the updated PRR impact analysis template, including new fields and expectations for detailed information on impacts and supporting measures.
  • Additional BPM process updates:
    • Review of minor timing and maintenance adjustments to streamline the overall BPM change management process.

 

Who should attend? 

The primary audience for this training is: 

  • Compliance, regulatory and governance staff responsible for reviewing, implementing, and complying with the ISO Tariff and Business Practice Manuals (BPMs) from the following entity types:
    • Scheduling Coordinators, Market Participants, their representatives, and any other entities that operate in ISO markets or are directly affected by the BPMs.
  • Local Regulatory Authorities
  • Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM) and the Extended Day Ahead Market (EDAM) Entities

Staff from these entities who:

  • Oversee adherence to ISO market participation rules within the ISO Balancing Authority Area.
  • Oversee adherence to ISO market participation rules in the broader Western energy markets (Western Energy Imbalance Market and the Extended Day-Ahead Market).
