Legal and regulatory PlanningCAISO relinquishing Operational Control over certain Pacific Gas and Electric Company transmission facilities
In accordance with Section 4.7 of the Transmission Control Agreement (TCA), as requested by PG&E, the California ISO (ISO) provides notice that it intends to relinquish operational control over the fourteen transmission line segments listed below. The segment numbers listed here are pole numbers listed on the individual physical assets:
- Pittsburg – Columbia Steel 115 kV, from 001/018A to 003/28
- Kern – Kern Oil Famoso 70 kV, from 004/032 to Kern Oil Substation
- Contra Costa #2 70 kV, from A000/011 to 043/324A
- Metcalf - Green Valley 115 kV, from 009/62B to Green Valley Substation
- Green Valley – Llagas 115 kV, from 009/062 to Green Valley Substation
- Semitropic - Midway #2 115 kV, from 007/069 to B018/151 and 008/072 to 008/077
- Corcoran – Angiola 70 kV, from 002/013 to Angiola Substation
- Contra costa - Du Pont 60 kV, from Contra Costa Substation to Dupont Substation
- Port Costa Brick tap 60 kV, from 002/025 to 000/001
- Parks tap 60 kV, from 004/094 to Parks Substation
- Senter #1 tap 60 kV, from 000/002 to Senter Substation
- Senter #2 tap 60 kV, from 000/011 to Senter Substation
- Garcia tap 60 kV, from 059/002 to Garcia Substation
- Wilson-Oro Loma 115 kV, from 008/002 to 008/002
The ISO, in consultation with PG&E, has determined that it no longer requires operational control over these fourteen transmission line segments to fulfill its Balancing Authority Area responsibilities. This determination was made because the facilities are being idled or removed and retired from network transmission service (reference Section 4.7.1(iii) of the TCA), or re-classified as local distribution facilities, subject to exclusion from CAISO Operational Control (reference Section 4.7.1(ii) of the TCA). The “idle” transmission line segments do not serve any customers or generators.
Interested parties have 45 days (no later than Oct. 31, 2026) within which to submit written objections to the proposed removal to Riddhi Ray at rray@caiso.com with a cc to RegulatoryContracts@caiso.com. The ISO will then respond to any objections and post the response on the ISO website as provided in Section 4.7.2 of the TCA.
Please contact Riddhi Ray at rray@caiso.com or RegulatoryContracts@caiso.com with any questions.
