MarketsEDAM Training: Imbalance Reserve Requirements Data on OASIS on 12/9/25
The California ISO is introducing significant changes to the market through a series of transformative initiatives. To support Scheduling Coordinators (SCs) in navigating these changes, we are offering a focused training session to review new Open Access Same-time Information System (OASIS) reports for Imbalance Reserve Requirement Calculations on Dec. 9, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
This training is designed for staff supporting SCs involved in or impacted by the upcoming Spring 2026 launches of:
- Day-Ahead Market Enhancements (DAME)
- Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM)
- EDAM ISO Balancing Authority Area Participation Rules
What topics will be covered?
This session will cover new OASIS reports related to the imbalance reserve requirement calculations. Imbalance reserves provide the market with a mechanism to address each Balancing Authority Area's expected range of uncertainty when comparing the day-ahead load forecast to real-time consumption and comparing solar and wind forecasts to their real-time outputs.
Who should attend?
The primary audience for this training is staff supporting SCs who are directly involved in:
- Day-Ahead Market operations, including resource scheduling and bid submission
- Forecasting teams responsible for load, solar, and wind forecasts
- Market analysis and settlements personnel who review and validate imbalance reserve requirements posted on the ISO's OASIS interface
- Staff whose role impacts or is impacted by Day-Ahead operations and management of Imbalance Reserves
- Staff whose responsibility it is to ensure adherence to EDAM and DAME participation rules
Why is this important?
Participants will learn how to:
- Replicate the calculation of imbalance reserve requirements
- Apply alternative forecasts to simulate alternative imbalance reserve requirements
- Calculate realized uncertainty observations for the Day-Ahead Market
A video recording will be available in the ISO Training Center under Western Energy Markets within three business days after the webinar.
