Legal and regulatory Markets Governance and committeesGovernance Changes from Pathways Step 1 Now Effective
On Nov. 7, 2024, the ISO Board of Governors and Western Energy Markets (WEM) Governing Body jointly approved changes to the California ISO governance documents that implement the Step 1 recommendation of the West-Wide Governance Pathways Committee. These governance changes are explained in Management’s memorandum dated October 24, 2024. The changes were not effective when adopted, but rather after certain trigger criteria are satisfied that relate to the collective entities committed to Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM).
This morning, the California ISO management certified to the Board of Governors and the WEM Governing Body that, with the collective commitments to EDAM including the commitment of Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) yesterday, the governance changes to implement Pathways Step 1 are now effective. Read the certification.
The following governance documents have been updated to reflect the approved changes: the corporate bylaws, Charter for WEIM and EDAM Governance, and Decisional Classification Guidance for the WEM Governing Body. In addition, the California ISO has filed notice with FERC in Docket No. ER25-542, that the related tariff amendment, which FERC accepted on April 2, 2025.
