Greenhouse Gas Coordination: Price Formation Evergreen Training posted

The California ISO has posted an evergreen training on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Price Formation to the GHG Coordination webpage. This pre-recorded training is intended to give stakeholders an opportunity to learn more about price formation with GHG.

The four-part training discusses the following topics:

  • The role of GHG price formation in market GHG policy today
  • The basic mechanics of price formation with GHG, including:
    • How GHG is reflected in the market
    • How the market determines what resources to attribute to a GHG regulation area
    • How prices are determined, what those prices mean, and how costs associated with GHG are allocated to market participants
  • The relationship between GHG and price formation principles, the market design, and the data that comes out of the market

The evergreen training is intended to be a durable representation of the fundamentals of GHG market design in ISO markets. Please send any questions, comments, or feedback on the training to ISOStakeholderAffairs@caiso.com with “GHG Price Formation” in the subject line.

The ISO will collect questions received from stakeholders and post responses to the GHG Coordination webpage in the form of an FAQ document.
