Market Seams workshop on 8/18/26

The California ISO has scheduled its second market seams workshop for Aug. 18, 2026, 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time. This will be the second workshop in a 4-part series on market-to-market seams that explores key issues with industry experts and interested parties. This meeting is hybrid with in-person participation in Salt Lake City at the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) office. If you plan to attend in person, please register.

The upcoming stakeholder meeting on Aug. 18, 2026, will focus on transmission constraints and congestion management. It will feature a panel of transmission operators and engineers explaining the series of transmission studies that identify constraints leading up to real-time with the Pacific Northwest region as an example. A second panel of subject matter experts from both market operators as well as market participants will discussion congestion management.

This 4-part seams series addresses principles, problem statements, and technical exploration of market-to-market seams issues. We welcome stakeholders from across the West to join the discussion at these workshops. Subsequent workshops in Sep. and Oct. will be announced in a future notice. Panels will feature market participants from across the region and market experts for both EDAM and SPP’s Markets+.

Meeting materials will be available prior to the meeting on the Market Seams webpage. The workshop will be recorded and the video file posted to the webpage. The recording is for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
