New initiative: Storage Bid Cost Recovery and Default Energy Bids Enhancements workshop, call on 7/8/24

The California ISO as launched a new initiative called Storage Bid Cost Recovery (BCR) and Default Energy Bid (DEBs), will host a public stakeholder workshop on July 8, 2024, to focus on revising Bid-Cost Recovery (BCR) provisions as they apply to energy storage in standalone, and co-located configurations.

In addition, this initiative will explore means to enhance the approximation of opportunity costs within the Default Energy Bids applicable to energy storage assets, as well as developing a Default Energy Bid applicable to hybrid resources.

The presentation will be posted prior to the meeting on the Storage Bid Cost Recovery (BCR) and Default Energy Bid (DEBs) initiative webpage.

Please submit written comments based on the workshop by end of day July 11, 2024 through the ISO’s commenting tool using the link on the initiative webpage. We appreciate your engagement in the new initiative and look forward to your comments.

We understand that this timeline represents a much faster turnaround than our usual processes, which is not ideal. However, we are committed to being responsive to the urgency and the desire for this initiative track 1.

The call will be recorded and the video file posted on the initiative webpage for a limited time. The recording is for informational convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
