PG&E Restricted Substations Clarifications

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) provided additional information to assist customers requesting to interconnect at restricted substations identified by PG&E in the PG&E Transmission Interconnection Handbook, Section G2: Protection and Control Requirements for Transmission Generation Entities, Tables G2 and G2-A.

Interconnections may not add new elements to the substations in Tables G2 and G2-A. Entry to the substations must be via existing facilities.

For interconnections in Table G2, PG&E will review the interconnection requests during the cluster application/resubmission window to confirm the acceptability of the point of interconnection. PG&E will assess if the project would create an issue that cannot be mitigated. The California ISO will inform the interconnection customer whether:

  • The interconnection is acceptable.
  • The interconnection is not acceptable.
    • If the interconnection request is submitted well in advance of the closing of the cluster application/resubmission window, the interconnection customer may choose an alternate, acceptable point of interconnection. The revised interconnection request must be submitted prior to the close of the window.

Interconnections to transmission lines involving substations listed in either Table G2 or G2-A are acceptable.

Interconnections to substations near substations listed in either Table G2 or G2-A are acceptable.
