Settlements Training: DAME, EDAM & EDAM CAISO Balancing Authority Participation Rules Continuation on 11/10/25

The California ISO is introducing significant changes to how it settles day-to-day market operations through a series of transformative initiatives. To support Scheduling Coordinators (SCs) in navigating these changes, we’re offering a settlements-focused training session on Nov. 10, 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time. This session is a follow-up to the Aug. 20, 2025, training and will focus on specific topics resulting from the upcoming Spring 2026 launches of:

  • Day-Ahead Market Enhancements (DAME)
  • Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM)
  • EDAM ISO Balancing Authority Area Participation Rules

This class will cover impacts to the following charge codes:

  • Settlements of the Imbalance Reserve (IR) portion of Flexible Ramp Product (FRP)
  • Imbalance Reserve and Reliability Capacity Tier 1 and Tier 2
  • Resource Sufficiency Evaluation (RSE) settlement validation
  • Understand how settlements of the Imbalance Reserve (IR) portion of Flexible Ramp Product (FRP) are processed
  • Explain the differences between Tiers 1 and 2 for Imbalance Reserve and Reliability Capacity
  • Explain how to validate the Resource Sufficiency Evaluation (RSE) settlement based on organizational role

Who should attend?

The primary audience for this training is the settlement personnel of Scheduling Coordinators operating within the ISO Balancing Authority Area, those planning to participate in EDAM, and anyone engaged in Western energy markets who wants to stay informed.

Even if your organization does not plan to participate in EDAM immediately, this session offers valuable insights to help you prepare for future involvement.

Why is this important?

This training will allow participants to:

  • Understand how settlements of the Imbalance Reserve (IR) portion of Flexible Ramp Product (FRP) are processed
  • Explain the differences between Tiers 1 and 2 for Imbalance Reserve and Reliability Capacity
  • Explain how to validate the Resource Sufficiency Evaluation (RSE) settlement based on organizational role

What other training should you consider?
This session is a follow up to the Aug. 20, 2025, training that focused on general settlements-related impacts of these initiatives. You can find a recording, presentation slides and Q&A from this course, as well as for the Aug. 18, 2025 markets-related training on the ISO Training Center under the Western Energy Markets section.

A video recording of this continuation course will be available in the ISO Training Center under the Western Energy Markets section within three business days after the webinar.
