MarketsVariable Operations and Maintenance Cost Review meeting on 6/4/26
The California ISO will host a stakeholder kick-off meeting for the Variable Operations and Maintenance (VOM) Cost Review process on June 4, 2026.
Through this triennial process, the ISO will review and update existing default VOM adders, as appropriate, and introduce a new default variable operations cost value for storage resources. The VOM adder enables market participants to reflect variable operations and maintenance costs in market bids. These adders are incorporated into a resource’s proxy costs, consistent with the three energy market bid components: default energy bids (DEBs), minimum load costs, and start-up costs. The variable operations cost for storage resources will be incorporated into a resource’s DEB.
This meeting will provide an overview of the initiative scope, process, and timeline, and offer stakeholders an opportunity to provide initial feedback.
Meeting materials will be posted on the 2026 Variable operations and maintenance cost review process webpage.
Please submit written comments in response to the discussion and meeting materials by end of day June 18, 2026, using the ISO’s commenting tool available on the process webpage linked above.
The meeting will be recorded, and the video will be posted on the process webpage for a limited time. The recording is provided for informational convenience only, and any related transcriptions may not be reproduced without the ISO’s permission.
