Markets Operations2025 Net Qualifying Capacity values for Resource Adequacy Resources posted
The California ISO recently received the corrected Net Qualifying Capacity (NQC) values from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Energy Division for 2025 wind and solar exceedance production profiles. The ISO has therefore applied those corrections and posted the updated preliminary 2025 Resource Adequacy NQC data on the Resource Adequacy webpage.
The comments and suggestions deadline related to the NQC values have been extended to close of business on Aug. 23, 2024. Comments and suggestions for the resources on the “Main tab” must be submitted through CIDI with the following subject line “2025 NQC Values” by close of business, Aug. 23, 2024. Suggestions for units to be added to the “Other tab” must be submitted through CIDI with the following subject line “2025 NQC Other tab” along with their Q#, WDAT# or other identifiers by close of business, Aug. 23, 2024. Resources that currently do not have any SC association can submit their requests to be added to the “Other tab” via “Contact us” on caiso.com.
NQC values for all Demand Response resources need to be re-authorized by their Local Regulatory Agency (LRA) based on their latest load impact protocol before they can be added on the NQC list.
If no modifications are requested for NQC by Aug. 23, 2024, the ISO will use the posted values for the RA compliance year 2025.
Scheduling coordinators may submit comments to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) at RAFiling@cpuc.ca.gov.
